We all have pride in our patios in the garden and we like to spend as much time as possible in the garden. Typically our patios are full of outdoor furniture which over time need protect from the elements such as sun, rain and snow. Patio umbrellas work to protect us from the harmful sun but they can also be used to protect our outdoor furniture from the elements too. So you can see patio umbrellas have multiply functions.
So what are patio umbrellas? Simply put they are just large umbrellas in the garden what can shade more than just one person, they can be situated in poolside, beaches and gardens a like. In fact any external environment can use patio umbrellas.
So now that you have decided to buy a umbrella for patios you now need to understand the different types available in the market. Some of the types are cantilever, regular, thatched and skyline patio umbrellas.
Cantilever UmbrellaThese types of cantilever umbrellas are great if your table does not have any hole for any umbrella or you require more place under the umbrella from the elements, using this umbrella without the table will allow you to add more chairs.
Regular UmbrellaThese are positioned in the centre of the table and most tables will have the hole already added to the table when you buy it. They may have retractable roof but some will not and the shape is typically oval or circular. The pole may or may not have any tilting option. I would recommend getting the tilt feature as it is good as it allows you to follow the sun around though out the day.
Thatched UmbrellasThese can not be moved around and are fixed to the ground, so if you choose this type of umbrella is very clear on the position before you install one. These are very popular at beaches and places like Hawaii.
Skyline UmbrellasThese umbrellas are great when your furniture is located in the corners with a railing nearby. These umbrella will be attached to the railing so will not need any base or stand and will save space. The disadvantage is the shading under the umbrella will be very limited to a small area.
Now you have a clear idea on the different designs of umbrellas for patios you can make a more informed decision. So when you are buying your next umbrella look at the price and the quality of the product.
