How to Have a Beautiful Patio Garden in a Small Space
In the absence of a proper garden, any small space can be turned into a patio garden. Whether you live on the ground floor with a tiny back yard, or whether you live on the second floor with only a balcony, you can still create a garden for yourself.
The best thing about a patio garden is that it is more under your control. You don’t have to start with a garden that has been neglected and has poor soil conditions. If you are planning a patio garden, you can start from fertile compost which you know does not harbour last year’s weeds and pests. Also, you can determine exactly how many containers you will have.
It is a good idea to plan out your containers before hand. Always remember that the plants will grow taller, so leave plenty of space in your scheme for growth. Buy enough of the right types of containers. If you have a small balcony, then it may be an idea to get double walled containers which will let water drain from your soil without dripping onto the balcony below.
There are many advantages of a patio garden over a permanent garden. If a plant is not doing well in a particular spot, then it can be easily moved. If it needs more sunshine, then you can move it to a sunnier spot and vice versa. The use of space can be maximized by using tall containers and double tiered pots.
Even the smallest space can be transformed by planting many different decorative plants and fruits and vegetables. Even delicate plants can be planted out because, if there is a frost then they can be easily brought inside temporarily or covered up with plastic. A patio garden can be a very relaxing and rewarding hobby.
