Landscaping Small – Gardens, Balcony and Design for Small Spaces

As opposed to what you may think, a garden doesn’t have to be inthe ground, or even at ground level. With some planning andimagination, a garden can be created on a balcony at your house. A balcony garden is very fun to create, and it can make yourbalcony at your home or apartment look great. Since there is noactual land to plant anything in, you will have to use pots. Make sure not to overdo planting on your balcony. You still haveto have some room to move around out there.

Flowers And Ferns

If you are creating the balcony garden to add style and color toyour home, flowers and ferns are a necessity. You can use anysize pots, as long as they are appropriate for the plants thatwill go into them. Placing larger, heavier pots on the ground, and the smaller lighter pots on a bench or on the rail is a goodidea. It is practical and looks nice as well. Pots can also behung to create shade and add privacy.

Watering

You need to water your garden every day, especially if thebalcony is covered and doesn’t naturally receive much rain water.

Also, be sure to pay attention to the plants to know if they aregetting enough sunlight, water, and nutrients. Not payingattention to your plants needs will cause them to die, and yourplan to make your balcony look better will backfire. Instead, itwill look ugly. Don’t let this happen to you.

Don’t Overdo It

If you plant too many things on your balcony, it will becomeovergrown. Ivy, for example, can take over the entire balcony,or even the whole home or apartment building! Just a little bitof life on the balcony will likely achieve the desired effect. Afew plants on the ground, a few on a bench, and a couple hangingplants, will probably be plenty. The rewards of a small yard landscape plan or creating a balcony garden, as long as you take care of it properly, will be beautiful. It willgive you a rewarding hobby, while making your home look nicer atthe same time.
